Things to do in Maggie Valley: See Mike Ogletree Perform Live at the Meadowlark Motel

Mike Ogletree, former member of the band, Simple Minds, brings his music as well as bands/singers that he curates to the Meadowlark. You may remember Mike for his song, “Don’t You Forget About Me”, which was popularized in The Breakfast Club. Three times weekly, Ogletree will be playing live music at Meadowlark, including at its Wednesday Wine Down events, Thursday Craft Beer events, and Saturday night cookouts. A guitarist, vocalist and drummer, Ogletree involves local musicians to workshop and perform  collaborations of Scottish folk music and local bluegrass, as well as old favorites.

Ogletree has an active presence on social media as well, including posting on Facebook about the musical events at this Maggie Valley hotel as well as related area events. The entire Artist Residency Program showcases local artists and cultural artisans for collaborations.

Things to do in Maggie Valley: Artist in Residency Programs

Meadowlark Motel proudly joins other pioneers in the Maggie Valley area showcasing an Artist in Residency Program. During the warm weather, Meadowlark Motel plans to host its musical events in a lovely outdoor pavilion on the property, overlooking the enchanting Jonathan Creek. During the winter months, musical events will be held inside the welcoming lobby.

Meadowlark Motel is open to artists of all different backgrounds and mediums for participation in its musical events and Artist Residency Program, not just musical. The property looks to produce an album with artwork supplied by local artists, and to feature local talent through ongoing workshops. Further, the Maggie Valley hotel aims to establish itself as a focal point and meeting place for regional artisans, where local talent is showcased and prominently displayed for the benefit of the community at large, as well as motel guests.
