HillBilly Jam in Maggie Valley, NC
Scheduled for every July (see schedule here), at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds, the Hillbilly Jam is an annual outdoor concert and festival. The event showcases an array of bands and musicians featuring bluegrass, rock-n-roll and country tunes. In addition, the festival offers a great selection of arts and crafts by local crafts people and artisans, from jewelry to baskets and woodwork. Several members of the cast of the famous ‘Moonshiners’ will make an appearance at the festival. See all the hot rods and cool bikes at the Show & Shine Car Show. Show up hungry because there will be plenty to eat. Below, we’ll break it down for you with the details.
Bands
Past lineups included: Hill Country Band, Unbridled Strings Band, Hillbilly Bones, Andalyn Lewis, Emi Sunshine, Ali Randolph and the Outta Luck Band. On Saturday, July 28th, you’ll get to hear: Broke & Busted Band, Hannah Styles, Ryan Perry Band, Stone Crazy Band, Lyric, and Joe Lasher, Jr. The current lineup you can find here.
Moonshiners from the TV Show
Generally you et to see the famous Moonshiners in person (as seen on the popular TV show), including Roy Grooms, Mark Rogers, Chico, Garmer & Butch, and more. Maybe you can get an autograph or hear their personal moonshine runnin’ stories.
Car Show & Swap Meet
There’s also a “Show & Shine Car Show” held at the festival grounds the same weekend of the Hillbilly Jam, featuring hot rods, 4X4s, motorcycles, a swap meet and vendors.
Food
In addition to typical carnival-type fare, from Philly cheesesteaks to fish and chips, expect to see an abundance of fresh, tasty barbecue, along with your favorite drinks to wash it all down.
Admission Fee to the Hillbilly Jam
Admission is $10 per person per day, while kids 10 and under enter free.
Maggie Valley Festival Grounds
Located at 3422 Soco Road in Maggie Valley, NC, the festival grounds are situated right in the heart of Maggie Valley. It’s just a few miles off Interstate I-40, and about 30 minutes from Asheville. Maggie Valley, NC, is located right in the center of the world-famous Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Hillbilly Jam is one of the most popular festivals in the NC Mountains and lodging tends to fill up early for these dates. Book early so you will be sure to have your spot! One of our favorite places to stay – located on Soco Road just minutes from the festival grounds – is the Meadowlark Motel. You can’t go wrong with their affordable but spacious cabins and guest rooms, overlooking the scenic Jonathan Creek. They have a large outdoor pavilion with a kitchen and a picnic area right on the creek, complete with grills, a fire pit and picnic tables. All rooms feature a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, along with free Wi-Fi Internet and complimentary continental breakfast.
