We are thrilled to share that Meadowlark Motel has been featured in Our State magazine’s recent article, “8 Timeless North Carolina Motor Lodges.” This recognition places us among the state’s most cherished vintage lodgings, celebrating our rich history and enduring charm.(Our State, WUNC)

Established in the 1940s at the crossroads of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains, Meadowlark Motel has been a cornerstone of Maggie Valley’s hospitality scene. Since Roger and Donna McElroy acquired the property in 1975, it has remained a family-run establishment. In 2017, their son Joseph and his wife, Simone, took over daily operations, infusing new life into the motel while preserving its nostalgic appeal.

Our commitment to blending tradition with innovation is evident in the additions we’ve made. HomeCraft Kitchen & Cocktails offers southern mountain-inspired cuisine with a modern twist, while The Speakeasy provides an intimate setting for craft cocktails and live music. These enhancements aim to provide guests with a unique and memorable experience that honors our heritage.

Being featured in Our State magazine is a significant honor for us. Since its inception in 1933, Our State has been dedicated to celebrating the people, places, and culture of North Carolina. Their storytelling captures the essence of our state, making this feature particularly meaningful.
