Load up the family or your friends and head out to Maggie Valley, North Carolina, in the western part of the state, for a fun, action-packed adventure snow tubing in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Snow tubing is fun for all ages. There are a few places to enjoy snow tubing in and around Maggie Valley. One is Tony’s Tube World, located inside Maggie Valley, owned and operated by the same people who own the nearby Cataloochee Ski Resort. Tony’s is the focus of our article.

Pigeon Forge Snow Park in nearby Pigeon Forge, TN, as well as Wolf Ridge Tube Run in Mars Hill, NC and Moonshine Mountain Snow Tubing Park in Hendersonville also earn high marks as snow tubing parks near Maggie Valley.

Maggie Valley Snow Tubing at Tony’s Tube World

Located at 1080 Ski Lodge Road in Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski Resort also operates Tony’s Tube World. Tony’s Tube World is situated about four miles from the ski resort. You can easily find it across from the entrance to the famous Ghost Town theme park. Tony’s Tube World is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in season, which usually runs from mid-December through spring. Like its parent, Cataloochee Ski Resort, Tony’s Tube World has snow-making equipment so they will never lack for snow. You do not need to bring your own tubes – they will supply them, and in fact, they require you to use their equipment.

Tony’s Tube World requires that you sign a waiver prior to enjoying snow tubing at their location. You can save some time by having this waiver form already filled out and signed by the time you get there. You can download it from their website. Reservations are highly recommended since snow tubing is one of the most popular activities in western NC.

At the time of this writing, tickets per person, per tubing session is $32 for weekday and $37 for weekend/holiday. A session lasts for 1 hour and 45 minutes. They run every two hours. Children are allowed at Tony’s Tube World, but there is a height requirement of at least 42 inches.

Tips for Maggie Valley Snow Tubing

  • The weather is cold and the snow is fluffy and dry, but it makes you wet when it melts. The bright sun casts a glare on the snow too. So be sure to bring sunglasses, goggles, sunscreen, lip balm, warm ski-type clothing, turtlenecks, long johns, sweaters, scarves, a face mask, hats or toboggans, waterproof gloves, mittens and waterproof jackets.

  • As mentioned previously, Tony’s Tube World is located directly across from Ghost Town theme park. This park is a great addition to your itinerary if you are visiting after the spring of 2019 when it reopens. Your family or group may enjoy their Old West themed park, live dramas, food, saloons and rides. Even the lift ride at the entrance is enjoyable – it takes you from the parking lot up the side of a mountain to the recreated Western town at the summit.
  • You can’t bring your own tube or sled to Tonys Tube World, but if you must experience your own snow conveyance you can head up Highway 19 west of Maggie Valley and just after a couple of miles to the top you will find the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway – many people go there for Maggie Valley sledding.
