B&C Winery – Located at 2499 Soco Road in Maggie Valley, B&C Winery uses grapes from around the world, along with pure mountain water, to create a fine collection of 40 varieties of wine. B&C stands for “Bob” and “Chris” – a husband and wife team that work together to make it all happen. The couple plans to offer five limited-edition varieties annually, in addition to the 40 varieties already available. The couple offers red, white, and dessert table wines, in addition to custom wines, cooking products, beer and wine-making supplies. It’s definitely worth a trip to their winery during your stay in Maggie Valley. If you’re a wine enthusiast, you’ll find this winery a favorite attraction.
Elevated Mountain Distilling Company (now closed) – Situated at 3732 Soco Road, Maggie Valley, NC, (near Waynesville), Elevated Mountain Distilling Company converts corn to handcrafted mountain whisky and spirits. Housed in a nicely converted country music dance hall, the distillery features specialty moonshine, bourbons, whiskeys, vodka and other products. In 2017, a tour of the facility was only $5 and included six tastings and a wealth of information. It was an instant sensation when they first opened the doors in 2017. You’ve seen the cable TV show, ‘Moonshiners’, but this company is the legal version of Great Smoky Mountain spirit-making mixing ancient knowledge in a modern-day mountain setting. Frog Level Brewing – While it’s not located in Maggie Valley, it is just a short drive away in neighboring Waynesville, NC, the county seat of Haywood County. We interviewed Krista Hill of Flipside Board Shop a while back. They sell rider-owned snowboards and skateboards, equipment, gear, skiing and skateboarding clothing, and more. During the interview, I asked about her favorite place to eat and relax in the area. Here is Krista’s response:
“With Asheville being crowned ‘Beer City USA,’ there are no lack of craft breweries in the area. We love the folks at Frog Level Brewing (froglevelbrewing.com) in Maggie Valley’s neighboring town of Waynesville. Frog Level has an amazing location right on the creek where you can enjoy one of their signature brews along with live music at their cozy bar or on their outdoor courtyard. I highly suggest their ‘Bug Eyed Stout’ if it is on tap. (It’s one of my all-time favorites.)”
